In this short video James Karran reflects on the Solace Pub Church in Cardiff, a Baptist church he led until it closed in 2011.

Solace met at Clwb Ifor Bach or 'The Welsh Club' for four and a half years from April 2007 to August 2011. It was a Cardiff city centre church aimed at those in their 20-30's.

The church was attempting to create an authentic place that expressed the idea that you do not have to change into someone you're not, before God will connect with you.

The church had many good times, transforming and affecting many peoples lives. However, in August 2012, after a painful but needed reflection process, the core team realised they were all on 'different pages' in relation to Solace, so they decided to close the church. It was strongly felt that God was saying 'Call it a day'.

So Solace was buried with one final gathering - a time of reflecting, remembering, grieving, sharing stories, celebration and music.

For its season, the church accomplished something really important, touching and transforming lives, showing people what God can do in their lives, and giving many people a fresh vision of what church is.

Solace RIP 2007-2011.
