It's just a year since my last entry here.
In it I said that I look for a first visitor, first returnee and first baptism. We'd just had our first visitor. They didn't return.
However others have done and we now have nine new regulars. A family of four come regularly to the monthly intergenerational activity, a family of three and a couple are all weekly visitors. The husband of the couple will be our first baptism on 26th June. Bingo.
In the Autumn I shared with the church the need to have, "Stepping Stones" to help people to faith. http://www.gbchurch.co.uk/strategy/
It was like scales falling off their eyes. "Why has no one explained this to us before?", "Look we have this, this and this, but now we know we need to add that and the other." Off they went and put in place some extra stepping stones and before long they could clearly see the fruit coming through the doors on a Sunday morning.
Meanwhile the drama group that I mentioned in my last blog, started in September and closed after 6 succesful months. It looked promising at first but withered. So we won't be bringing it back this autumn.
On the other side we are now 15 months on with our regular leafletting and the fruit is beginning to show with people increasingly turning up at things and telling us that they know about us through the leaflets, "We read them regularly."
I always count the attendance so as not to become too excited by a few good weeks nor too disheartened on a few down weeks. I can check back and see the previous year's pattern. So far we are 1.5 to 2 people up on attendances around 26/27.
Onwards and upwards.
