Emerging Church
Saturday 6th October 2012
Venue: Bristol Baptist College, The Promenade, Clifton Down, Bristol BS8 3NJ.
Fresh expressions of church. Emerging churches. Incarnational communities, Alternative worship. Missional church.
During the past fifteen years or so Christians across western culture have been exploring new and different ways of being church and engaging in mission. Some people are very sceptical of what might be yet another short-lived fad. Others are excited by the passion, creativity and missional energy they see in these initiatives.
Maybe it's too early to know yet what lasting impact they will have. But something does seem to be happening around the edges of church as we know it - maybe we need to pay attention, interact with these pioneers and even get involved.
Emerging Church is a short introduction to this subject in Bristol. What is emerging? Why is it emerging? What can we learn from these initiatives? What are their strengths and weaknesses? Is it really new? How can inherited and emerging expressions of church inspire and resource each other?
Come and learn with others who are interesetd in pioneering, creativity and mission in local communities. Through interactive learning and case studies we will explore the basics of the emerging church.
Cost: £25.00 (£15.00 if unwaged) this includes lunch and other refreshments.
This one-day event is sponsored by Urban Expression and the Incarnate Network, under the auspices of the Crucible curse, in partnership with Bristol Baptist College and the West of England Baptist Association.
