If you are interested in how Christians are living and ministering in the Housing Estates of the UK then the National Estate Churches Network (NECN) – which links together Christians of all denominations in order to support and learn from one another is worth checking out.
What’s NECN for?
Housing Estates are often ‘forgotten’ areas, but already we’ve helped put them back on the ‘Urban Ministry’ map! We continue to speak out so that decisions about Estates are not always made by those who know nothing about them. In some of these areas, the Churches are the only agencies who really represent the locals, with even the clergy living right there, where it matters.
What do they do?
All around England local regional groups offer mutual support and send a representative to our national Steering Group. In this way, we are active at national and local level. We organise conferences at various locations and publish booklets on subjects crucial for our members. We share our expertise and our problems, learn from one another and glory in what God makes possible on our Estates.
How it got started
In 1998 a conference was sponsored by the Methodist Church and the Church of England. Since then many other denominations have joined in – all are welcome, and especially you!
Calling all Baptists (and other denominations)
There is no membership fee for the NECN you just need to register to recieve their regular free eNewsletter and other information about events, resources, groups, seminars, links and a lot more. Hear the stories of Christian housing estate ministry, and if you would like to tell them your story, they’d love to hear from you.
