The Baptist Union of Scotland has launched a pioneer church planting project called “Prism”. Their vision is to see church planters starting churches in areas of Scotland, where the church has thus far had little impact. This might be geographical areas, but could include planting into sub-cultures which are unreached by the gospel. Their hope is to attract and fund pioneer church planters in Scotland..

“We also envisage the possibility of churches working together, with teams drawn from each fellowship, planting in their part of Scotland”, said Andy Scarcliffe the Mission Advisor. “Church planting has always been part of our DNA as a family of churches. We want to recapture that vision for those unreached by the message of the Risen Christ.

The concept behind PRISM is the releasing and resourcing of individuals and groups of churches that have a vision for something different; maybe a new format of worship, a new structure of meeting or a church that would reach a distinct group of people not presently reached by the church”. Candidates would have to be active in a Baptist church. For more details on “Prism”, visit the Baptist Union of Scotland website at www.scottishbaptist.org.uk.
