I've had websites for nearly 20 years.
In my last church we had a site for the whole time I was there.
When I arrived at Gildersome we revamped the site and publicised it heavily. We used ads on google ads and on facebook to drive traffic to the site for key periods like Christmas and Easter.
In all this time I've not had a single person come visiting in search of a church to join who could be credited to having found us on the web.
Then comes the last six weeks and ten people in three families who have randomly turned up in search of a church to join. Some have said that they found us on the web others we presumje to have found us that way. They are all from the ring just beyond wour regular publicity ring.
So what has changed. An amount of media coverage for us may have driven them to look at us, but I'm pretty sure that the diffenerence is the change we made to the landing page of our website, www.gbchurch.co.uk .
A couple of months back we had our first baptism. We filmed the baptism, clipped 2 minutes of it and put it to run on entry to the website.
Suddenly a flow of people looking for a church to join turn up.
I don't think it's a coincidence.
